Tough Racing 5k, 10k, 13.1

It was an epic weekend of racing for several members of the Migonis Multisport team.  Many braved strong winds, cold rain, blustery snow and all kinds of other nasty weather during their races.  In the end everyone agreed that it was a fun and memorable time racing no matter what their time was or what race they were running in.

On Saturday Joan Kane ran in and set a new course personal best time at the Fort to Fort 10k in Rome, NY.  Joan’s time of 52:59 was good enough for 76th overall and second in her age-group.  Joan just keeps getting faster with age. Amazing!

Taylor Schaa Wilmoth also had a good day racing at the Spring into Action 5k at the University of Minnesota on Sunday morning.  Taylor finish with a time of 23:00 for the 5k race.  Well done Taylor.  The results haven’t been posted yet.

Sunday was a truly amazing day as the Syracuse ½ marathon quickly became a race of survival rather than a race for fast times.  Ryan Meek (1:37:29), Dana Cooreman (1:41:08), Ryan Elliott (1:53:57), Erin O’Connor (1:56:35), Lauren Polak (1:57:08), Kellie Nasiff (2:07:03) and Nicole Garafalo (2:25:53) all ran through the cold, wet sloppy roads of Syracuse fighting through the wind, snow and even hail at one point to finish the 13.1 mile event.  Erin and Lauren even managed to set personal best times for the distance, which is truly awesome.  I think everyone agreed that if it was a nice day everyone would have had a very realistic shot at setting a new personal best time.  Well done everyone!!  Oh and an honorable mention “well done” to Travis Glazier and Emily Zipprich (accompanied by her husband Mark and her awesome dog Trek) who came to the race to cheer on their teammates despite the conditions.

This weekend Travis, Kellie, Nikki and teammate Amie Thomas will all be in action at various running races while Mike Espejo will be racing at Ironman 70.3 Galveston.  Good luck!
