Starting 2019 Off Hot

We are a few months into the 2019 season and there were several great performances to get the year started off on the right foot for Migonis Multisport.

Things got going with a strong performance at the 15th Annual Cazenovia Jewelry Chilly Chili 5k by Migonis Multisport’s newest athlete Logan Robinson.  Logan ran very strong for this snowy, cold 5k in Cazenovia, NY/ Especially for so early in the season.  She crossed the line in a time of 21:51 which was good enough for 22nd overall, 3rd overall female and 1st in her age-group.  Post-race she promptly got her gear on and went for another 6 miles to get in her long run for the week.

A few months later Logan ran another strong race at the Tipp Hill 4 mile Shamrock Run. She placed 4th in her age-group and was the 8th women overall breaking the tape in a time of 27:53. Impressive seeing that it was Logan’s biggest training week so far and her second workout of the day. Logan is training hard for the Boston marathon in April and Ironman Lake Placid in July.  Great job Logan and good luck this season!

Racing a little different type of event this winter was Dana Cooreman. She took on the famous Birkebeiner 50k XC Ski race in Wisconsin in late February.  Well over 3,000 athletes took to the snow and raced the long, grueling 50k skate race.  Dana crossed the line in a time of 4:29:08 and while it wasn’t quite the time he hoped for she was still very pleased with her effort and is already looking for races to use as a qualifier for next years event.  Well done Dana!

Matt Ryan got his 2019 season started this past weekend at the Rock N’ Roll Marathon held in Washington, DC.  Matt has long had the goal of breaking 4 hours in the tough 26.2 mile monster and has fallen short on several occasions.  He came closer than ever this time scoring a new PR for the distance.  He finished the hard, hilly course in 4:00:25.  A mere 26 seconds from his goal. A very impressive feat for a guy in is mid-40’s and a fantastic way to start his new season.  Nice job Matt!

Matt’s wife Rachel also raced in DC, but in the half marathon event.  Like Matt, Rachel set a new PR for the distance.  She clocked a time of 2:44:06 which was a huge lifetime best for her.  Awesome jog Rachel!
