The second weekend of August was another fantastic one for team Migonis Multisport.  Taylor Schaa Wilmoth, Emily Zipprich, Joan Kane, Randy Hadzor and Matt Migonis were all in action in what was one of the hottest, most humid and just plain uncomfortable weather weekends on the year.

On Saturday Taylor raced at the Gopher to Badger ½ Marathon which starts in Stillwater, MN and ends in Hudson, WI.  Taylor, who is nearing the final few weeks of her training for Ironman Wisconsin in September, finished in a time of 1:59:29.  She placed 341 out of 1043 competitors and was 56 out of 264 athletes in her very competitive age-group.  Taylor’s next race will be Ironman Wisconsin in mid-September.  Well done Taylor.  http://www.finaltiming.com/results/gophertobadger

On Sunday Joan Kane ended her 2016 triathlon season with yet another age-group win.  This time at one of her favorite races, the Old Forge Triathlon.  Joan finished in a time of 2:12:05 on a very wet and muggy day in the Adirondacks.  Joan’s time was also good enough for 12th female overall.  Joan’s season comes to a close with an A+ grade.  She saw some of her best results in 2016 and with her handful of age-group wins Joan has a tremendous amount of confidence and momentum heading into the offseason.  She going to take some down time before setting her sights on next season.  Right now, the new Ironman 70.3 Lake Placid in September 2017 looks to be the top race on her radar.  Great season Joan and a job well done!  http://www.score-this.com/

Sunday also marked the day that Emily Zipprich raced her first xterra triathlon.  She raced in the Syracuse Xterra in Fayetteville, NY.  Emily used a great swim leg to get out of the water at the front of her age-group.  She used her new found mountain-biking skills to stay up front during the second leg and scored a second overall in the age-group after a tough trail run.  Emily’s time of 2:44:10 was also good enough for 10th overall female.  We aren’t sure if she is going to do more xterra’s in the future, but now it’s on to ½ marathon training as she prepares for the BAA ½ marathon in October.  Good work Emily.  http://www.score-this.com/

Randy Hadzor and Matt Migonis also raced on Sunday teaming up with Greg Lesher to race at the 39th annual Great Race in Auburn, NY.  The Great Race is a relay race (run, bike and paddle) and you can compete in either the short or traditional course.  Randy ran, Matt road and Greg did the paddling for Team Culltefish in the traditional course race. Matt and Greg had the top splits of the day in their respective legs and coupled with Randy’s 8th fastest run split the team walked away with the first overall placing by four big minutes.  It was a great team effort on a very humid day that saw rain, hail and at times, strong winds.  Fantastic job guys!  http://www.great-race.com/results/res16/2016res.htm
