The past two weekends have been more of the same from the 2016 Migonis Multisport team. Joan Kane, Beth Lancer, Travis Glazier and Mat Migonis all competed in at least one event over the last two weekends and each of them had performances that they should be, and I’m sure are, proud of.
Joan lead the way with an age-group win at last weekend’s City of Sherrill Centennial 5k road race held in Sherrill, NY. Joan flew through the race crossing the line in 24:55 which was nearly two minutes faster than the second place finisher in the group. Matt Migonis also ran the City of Sherrill Centennial race finishing 1st overall in a time of 15:50. Matt’s time was 51 seconds faster than the runner up finisher. Congrats to both Joan and Matt.
Joan continued her great summer of racing this weekend when she took home another age-group win at one of her favorite races of all, the Bolder Inspiration of Trenton Falls 5 mile road race, which is held in Trenton Falls, NY. Joan has run this on several occasions and while this wasn’t her fastest time ever for the course, she still managed to be very close to a PR for the very hilly, half road and half trail five mile event. Joan broke the tape in a time of 46:21, which was nearly a minute faster than second place in age-group. Awesome job Joan!
On Sunday morning Travis Glazier and Beth Lancer raced at the Sodus Point Triathlon held in Sodus Point, NY. Travis finished 15th overall and 5th in what looked to be easily the most competitive age-group of the day on the male side. His finish time was 1:16:27 and the highlight of the race was his bike split which was a good 5 minutes faster than last year’s race. Beth Lancer led the way in her age-group finishing first overall in a time of 1:32:02. Beth, who came down with an illness the day before, dealt with dizzy spells and a fever the whole race, which makes her performance even more impressive. Well done Travis and Beth!
