A Strong December to end the 2018 Season

December is a typically short race month in the North East.  Still, that doesn’t mean the racing is any less great and impressive.

The month started off with Annie Ball who was at it again racing for the 3rd time in the last 6 weeks.  This time it was the Jingle Bell 5k in Dansville, NY.  Annie set a PR for the 5k distance crossing the line in 20:08 to take home an age-group win and some hardware.  Awesome job Annie!

Also racing the first weekend of the month was Emily Lesher.  Em ran a great time of 21:04 at the Reindeer 5k in Beverly, MA.  She placed 1st overall in her age-group and was the third overall female.  Not bad for deciding to run the race at the last minute.  Well done Emily!

Annie was back at it the next weekend (12/8) at the It’s a Wonderful Life 5k Run in Seneca Falls, NY.  This is one of the biggest races volume wise in the state.  Nearly 5,000 runs take to the streets in Seneca Falls for this fast 5k run.  Annie took home another age-group win in a time of 20:54 which was also good enough for 18th in the female overall category.  It sounds even more impressive when you see that she was 18th out of 3,181 female finishers.  Elyssa Rosenbaum was shortly behind Annie when she crossed the line in 23:22. That was good enough for 13th in her age-group and 48th female overall. Not bad for recently coming off an illness the previous week.  A short time after Elyssa finished, Chelsea Parkes, who was running her first race as a part of Migonis Multisport, broke the tape in a time of 25:43.  Her time was good enough for 10th in her age-group and 109th female overall. Chelsea is in her first year back racing after some time off, so it was great to see her dust the rust off.  Great job ladies!

Annie closed out the year with another great race at the Upstate NY Holiday Classic indoor track meet at RIT in Rochester, NY on 12/29.  Annie ran a great time in her debut indoor 5k event posting a time of 20:22. Her late season performances are hopefully going to lead to even more PR’s and lifetime bests in 2019.  Well done this season Annie!!!
